In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we are spotlighting remarkable individuals in the Regis community.

Colli Nestor first came to Regis Birkdale in March 2013 when her late husband Michael became a resident. What started as an effort to encourage Michael to engage more in activities evolved into a commitment to fostering connections with the Regis community. Colli, accompanied by her dog Digby, became a regular presence in the Home.

Colli was recently recognised at the 2023 National Regis Care Awards, where she won the Volunteer of the Year Award.

“The Regis team have given me full support in every endeavour and showed me how to love, listen and care for everyone I meet each time I’m here,” Colli said.

Colli’s commitment to the community is not just about activities; it’s about understanding the residents’ feelings and empathising with their experiences. The employees and residents at Regis Birkdale express their gratitude for Colli’s contributions, acknowledging her as a truly exceptional volunteer.

Regis Birkdale General Manager Kirsty Krueger shared, “Colli has been a member of our Birkdale family since the day she walked through our front door. Colli is passionate, kindhearted and extremely dedicated to brightening the day of everyone around her. We are so grateful to Colli for the joy that she brings to our residents!”
