Twenty-five residents from five of our Club Homes in Victoria were recently treated to a nostalgic cinematic experience, transporting them back to the golden age of film with a screening of the 1964 classic, My Fair Lady. The timeless film, starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, brought joy and fond memories to our residents, many of whom are avid fans of this iconic movie.
For many, My Fair Lady holds a special place in their hearts and the opportunity to see it on the big screen was a dream come true.
Merle, a resident of Regis Blackburn, perfectly captured the sentiment of the day: “Thank you very much for taking us to this screening. My Fair Lady is my favourite movie and I’m so happy that we went on this outing. I’m still wearing my crown and a feather garland.”
Regis Armadale resident, Leah, shared: “We enjoyed a wonderful trip to Chadstone Shopping Centre, where I delighted in passing by all the beautiful shops on our way to Hoyts Cinema. My favourite films are ‘Cabaret’ and ‘Gone with the Wind’; these old movies offer something more spectacular than the current ones,” she notes.
The screening was more than just a movie outing; it was a shared experience that fostered a sense of community among the residents. Conversations about favourite scenes, characters and songs continued long after the credits rolled, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
