Marcelle has been a dedicated part of the Magnolia family since 2005. With 19 years of experience, her passion for her role remains as vibrant as ever. “I truly love what I do, and after all these years, I still feel excited every time I walk into our Home and see the residents,” Marcelle shares.
Marcelle’s connection with the residents of Boyd, a specialised dementia care wing, is built on genuine care and compassion. She cherishes the familiar interactions, saying, “It’s heart-warming when they recognise me. They’ll say, ‘Where have you been?’ with a smile, and I’ll respond, ‘Did you miss me?’” Her thoughtful approach ensures that each resident feels valued and seen. Marcelle leads beloved activities like Thursday “Happy Hour,” where residents gather to dance, sing, and enjoy each other’s company. Even residents in wheelchairs are part of the joy, as Marcelle dances with them to create an inclusive, uplifting experience that everyone looks forward to.
Marcelle understands that continuity is essential, especially in dementia care. Familiar faces bring comfort and a sense of security to residents who may feel confused or unsettled. “Having consistency in our team helps residents feel more at ease, especially on days when they may not recognise everyone around them,” she notes. Her commitment to building trust and familiarity is a cornerstone of the compassionate environment at Regis Magnolia.
For Marcelle, care is about empathy, kindness and attentiveness. “In such a close and intimate environment, showing compassion and being attentive to residents’ needs is essential,” she explains. Her nurturing approach is a testament to the importance of compassion in aged care, embodying the values that make Regis Magnolia feel like home.
