At 90 years old, Thelma entered into a new chapter of her life as the very first resident at Regis Camberwell. Her journey is a heartwarming testament to the welcoming environment and thoughtful care that defines our new Home.
Reflecting on her arrival, Thelma shares, “The minute we pulled up on the front ramp, I was feeling rather weak. Then the doors opened and the atmosphere was so bright and beautiful. It was a lovely feeling, and I forgot all my problems.”
Thelma was greeted with flowers, chocolates, and warm smiles from the Regis team, which made her feel immediately at ease.
“I loved the place immediately,” she recalls.
For Thelma, choosing Regis Camberwell was a deeply personal decision. Its proximity to her daughter and two granddaughters made it the perfect choice.
“It’s a huge, scary step to move into care, but I lost that feeling as soon as I got here,” she explains.
“The atmosphere and the freshness of the building just felt right.”
Now settled in, Thelma describes her days at Regis Camberwell as bright and inviting. From morning exercises to engaging activities, her days are filled with purpose.
Her favourite features of the Home include the balconies, dining area, and kitchenettes, with the balconies being a particular highlight. “The balconies are just fabulous,” she explains, offering her a tranquil space to relax and enjoy her surroundings.
What sets Camberwell apart for Thelma is the unwavering care and support from the team. “Perfectly, they are very caring,” she says. “It doesn’t feel like an aged care Home.”
Thelma’s journey to Camberwell is a story of connection and comfort. Her words reflect the heart of what makes Camberwell special—a place where new beginnings feel like coming home.
