For Al, the journey to becoming a Registered Nurse in Australia has been one of resilience and dedication. Since joining Regis Rosebud in April 2023, he has embraced every opportunity to develop his skills and advance his career.
Career Progression and Growth
Al began his professional journey in Australia as a Personal Care Assistant trainee before transitioning into a fully qualified role. With a background as an overseas Registered Nurse, he was determined to gain hands-on experience in aged care and take on additional responsibilities.
His determination paid off when he successfully obtained his Registered Nurse registration through the OBA pathway, a structured process for international nurses to qualify in Australia.
Now working as a nurse, Al reflects on his growth, recognising how the transition has sharpened his leadership skills and expanded his knowledge. He takes pride in his journey and remains committed to continuous professional development.
Passion for Aged Care
Al’s decision to work in aged care stems from a deep sense of purpose. He is driven by the desire to provide quality care to those who need it most, ensuring the wellbeing and dignity of elderly residents. Beyond the clinical aspect, he finds fulfillment in the connections he builds with residents and their families. Every day presents an opportunity to make a meaningful difference, and this is what keeps him motivated.
His passion for learning also plays a key role in his motivation. “What keeps me going is the ability to continuously develop my skills while also being able to support my family. Aged care is a field where you never stop learning.”

When preparing for his nursing exams, he found guidance and encouragement that played a crucial role in his success.
