Aged Care Employee Day is a special opportunity for us to highlight the incredible workers who support our residents and clients to live their lives on their terms.
Meet Nikita, the Home Care Manager for Tasmania who’s been part of the Regis community since June 2020. After joining Regis and undertaking this role during the early, unprecedented time of the pandemic, Nikita has shown her unwavering dedication and commitment to providing compassionate care to all Regis clients.
Nikita’s journey into the sector began through her work as a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), showcasing her compassionate nature and care for older people. Her motivation for working in the aged care sector comes down to being “able to make valuable contributions to the community,” she said.
Although it’s a fast-paced environment, Nikita shares her day always begins with her motto: “There are no problems, only solutions.”
Her day is often interactive with team members, as well as clients, always keeping in mind the value of others to work towards the same goal; “to constantly improve the way things are done.” Nikita said, “I spend my time learning, reflecting on my practice and mentoring others so they can also be the best that they can be.”
When asked what she likes about her work, Nikita stated, “I love my role at Regis! I love being able to make a difference in the lives of our clients, to put my ideas into action, to mentor others and also learn from others. I love working with the entire team, not only here in Tasmania, but nationally. I love being able to contribute to providing safe and effective care for our clients, walking alongside them in their journey and seeing them achieve their goals.”
She also attributes her love for her role to the way her work is recognised. Nikita shares, “I am valued here at Regis and I matter. My ideas are listened to and I not only form part of a team, but I also feel part of the team.”
Working with the elderly is seen as a privilege to Nikita. She thrives being able “to give back, help people, make a difference, be a voice for people, support them to live at home for as long as possible and provide people with a great experience while doing so.”
For anyone considering a career in home care, Nikita shares the following: “Do it! You won’t regret it. It really is rewarding work and there are so many opportunities for career pathways in the aged care sector. I began my career as a PCA, and I do not have one single regret!”
Nikita’s dedication to her work, her team, and clients make her an invaluable member of the Regis Home Care team. Her passion for the sector and her willingness to make a difference in the lives of the older members of the Tasmanian community she works with is an inspiration to all who work in the sector.
