Meet Ngametua Tuifua, Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Regis Belmore in New South Wales. Tua is a long-serving employee of Regis Aged Care, having worked for the organisation since 1999. Throughout the years, Tua has taken on multiple roles in different departments and finally to her present role as an AIN.
When asked what attracted her to work in the aged care sector, Tua replied, “The first time I walked into a nursing home, I cried and knew then this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my working life.”
Tua enjoys her work at the Home and shared with us that she is grateful for having extremely supportive team members. She explained that being able to care for the residents and wanting to give her full attention to them are two of the primary reasons why she likes working with the elderly.
“One of Regis values is ‘passion’. I believe that’s how we feel about working with the elderly,” said Tua. This is the greatest motivation that kept her engaged for the last twenty-two years working for Regis.
“It’s all about having the passion. It’s not about the money. It’s about the residents that we care for,” advised Tua for those who want to start a career in aged care.
Outside of work, she enjoys the simple things that bring joy to life. She loves gardening, reading, listening to music and dancing to it.
