Residents and employees from Regis Sunraysia and Regis Ontario, in addition to the local Home Care team, were keen to put their best foot forward recently when they took part in Dementia Australia’s fun fundraiser – Memory Walk and Jog.

More than 25 participants from Regis, in addition to a number of family members, tied up their laces to show their support for people living with dementia by walking – and in some cases jogging – around the stunning local Ornamental Lakes Park.

Stella Whitney, Assistant Manager at Regis Ontario, said by supporting the Memory Walk fundraiser, participants not only helped to raise awareness and funds for dementia programs and research, they were also supporting people living with the condition.

“One of the most important aspects of our Memory Walk is allowing people who have been touched by dementia to come together and share their experience; it’s important for participants to realise they are not alone,” she said.

“Dementia is something that affects many people’s lives and we at Regis wanted our community to know we are here to offer our service, support and care to those people who receive a diagnosis, as well as their families and loved ones.

“The true highlight of the day was seeing so many local people supporting the event and the team from Regis was genuinely thankful to have had the chance to join the event, and walk side-by-side with those in the community who have been touched by this all-too-common condition.”
