Since joining the Regis family in 2010 as an Assistant in Nursing, Sharon Ryan has excelled in providing the highest quality of care to our residents. This has included residents that have varying degrees of dementia, complex care needs, and palliative care. We were proud to present Sharon with the Regis Outstanding Carer award for her remarkable efforts.
Drawn to the sector after caring for her own ageing family, Sharon “wanted to support and help others in the later stages of their lives”. At Regis Port Stephens, Sharon’s commitment knows no bounds as she ensures that each resident and their family is valued and appreciated. It is always the person first for Sharon, who never fails to go the extra mile for our residents. Never forgetting the importance of a good laugh, Sharon leaves our resident’s smiling and belly-laughing. As the saying goes, laughter is often the best medicine, and at Regis, Sharon is there to administer it.
Providing individualised care and maintaining each resident’s physical, emotional, and social wellbeing is what makes up a typical day for Sharon where she loves “absolutely everything” about her role. Supporting our older generation and “making a small difference to our residents’ lives” is what motivates her each day.
Sharon is a positive role model and mentor at Regis. Our residents and their families thoroughly appreciate her positivity and kindness and value the respect and passion that she radiates in every encounter. It is safe to say that Sharon leads the way in providing the highest service and care for our residents. Sharon recommends a career in aged care to anyone seeking a “rewarding and fulfilling career with a purpose”. That’s undoubtedly been the case for Sharon.
The team celebrated Sharon’s award in the facility with co-workers, management, residents, family, and friends present to mark the special occasion. We love seeing our employees take the time to relish their achievements in the company of everyone that makes up the Regis family. In Sharon’s own words, it was “a magical day”.
In accepting the award, Sharon remarks that “it was a huge honour. It would not have been possible without the great support of my hard-working co-workers and management team. I would also like to personally thank my General Manager, Jill de la Lande, for her continued support and for believing in me”.
We congratulate Sharon on her fantastic achievement and thank her for the years of dedicated service she has provided the residents, families, and employees at Regis.
