Regis Bulimba has served the local community for many years delivering care and service excellence. The current buildings are coming to the end of their useful life, having been used as a hostel and then residential aged care for more than 50 years. A strategic review of Regis’ residential aged care portfolio has concluded that the current site is suitable for a major redevelopment. The current buildings will be demolished and replaced with a brand new and contemporary residential aged care home
Unfortunately, we will need to close Regis Bulimba and relocate all residents and employees to other homes on or before 29 August 2025. Site works will start after this date.

As residents begin to transition into their new living arrangements, we will continue to monitor service levels at the home to ensure there is appropriate staffing on site and mandatory care minutes requirements are met. During this time, we will consult with you and will make every effort to identify alternative employment opportunities within Regis which will use your skills and experience.
Our goal is to redeploy all employees within Regis Bulimba to suitable alternative roles at our other Homes for people to continue their employment at Regis.
In the event that a suitable alternative role is not available for you to transfer into, we will discuss this with you during an individual consultation meeting and you will be eligible for a redundancy payment on the baisis of genuine redundancy. Each individual employee entitlement will be by their contract of employment together with obligations contained in any industrial instruments that may apply to the employees’ employment (e.g. Awards or enterprise agreements). However, Regis will make all reasonable endeavours to redeploy affected employees before discussions take place in relation to this.
If there is an available suitable role that is offered to you and you reject it, then that may impact your entitlement to redundancy pay.
We will work with you to find a suitable available role within another Regis Home. If there is a position available closer to your home, we will discuss this with you and try to accommodate where we can.
We will endeavour to cater for preferences, however if a redeployment job is considered reasonable on balance, that will be offered to you.
Yes. Your entitlements will transfer over when you commence employment at another Regis Home.
In the event of termination of employment, we will comply with the Industrial Relations Laws and ensure your entitlements are paid out to you.
Yes. You may ask a support person to join you for any individual meetings.
Regis has multiple Homes in and around Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and one on the Gold Coast.
The Homes closest to Bulimba are: Regis Birkdale, Regis Camp Hill, Regis Holland Park, Regis Lutwyche, Regis Salisbury, Regis Wynnum and Regis Yeronga.
We will be happy to discuss opportunities within our national portfolio with you during an individual consultation meeting.

No. Any leave you already have approved will be honoured and we will take into account your planned return date when confirming re-deployment arrangements.
Yes. We will contact all employees who are already on leave at the time of announcing the closure of the Home, to ensure suitable arrangements are made for individual consultation regarding re-deployment. We understand that in some cases of extended leave, employees may not return to Regis Bulimba and will commence at another Regis Home upon their return from leave.

We will continue to deliver the same care and services to all our residents.
Over time, the volume will decrease as residents depart the Home. As this occurs your General Manager will provide direction on any necessary adjustments to day-to-day workflows. Rosters will be adjusted accordingly in conjunction with re-deployment dates which we expect to be staggered.
It is important that all residents and their families feel well supported through this change. With that, there may be a request of you to assist some of your residents with preparing for their departure – such as packing clothing and personal belongings. Your General Manager will provide regular updates on scheduled departures to ensure as much notice as possible is given to you and your colleagues.
